For fans of Siri, the uncertainty about how soon the much-promised AI improvements would be arriving has recently been cleared up by Apple.
Siri is expected to become smarter, more personalised and better able to handle natural conversational flow, in direct competition with other AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini.
Apple's Siri AI upgrade delayed again
Earlier this year, when Apple first announced delays to present the new Siri features, they said they would roll them out "in the coming year".
Apple used the same speaking points, and they are vague the same way, again, when it presented some of the Siri improvements at Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2025.
However, Apple's C-suite were able to provide a much clearer answer. Speaking to Tom's Guide, Apple Senior Vice President Greg "Joz" Joswiak confirmed that Siri's AI features would launch in early 2026.
This came in response to a question directly focused on the 2026 date and was mentioned twice: "So, I mean, we could say 2026, right?"
Apple Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi gave a long response explaining the delays, but he did not confirm and instead Joswiak answered: "Yeah, that's what we said, yeah."
This comment suggests that Apple fans should not expect the AI-powered Siri to arrive in iOS 18 or even early versions of iOS 26. A more realistic release window could be spring 2026, likely with iOS 26.4.
Siri’s delayed upgrade is one of Apple’s biggest AI bets yet. The tech giant has promised that this new version will be more useful and better understand context, but users will now have to wait longer to experience it.
