Apple is reportedly gearing up for a major Siri overhaul that will transform the voice assistant into an AI chatbot directly integrated into its iPhone and Mac.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the update is reportedly coming later during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2026, replacing the existing Siri interface that will allow users to interact with the AI assistant by both both voice- and typing-based modes, similar to the chatbots available from Google, OpenAI, and others.

The chatbot, named 'Campos', will be integrated into the iPhone, iPad, and Mac operating systems, through which Apple users will be able to summon the new service the same way they open Siri now, by speaking the “Siri” command or holding down the side button on their iPhone or iPad.

This change is separate from the AI-powered personalisation features coming to Siri in the next few months. Like that updated version of Siri, the chatbot will reportedly use a custom Google Gemini AI model as part of the multiyear partnership both companies announced earlier this year, though this version will have capabilities that 'significantly surpass' its AI personalisation features.

It will be the 'primary new addition' to iOS 27, iPadOS, and macOS 27, with other updates focused mostly on stability, writes Gurman.

'Campos' will run a higher-end version of the custom Google model, comparable to Gemini 3, that is known internally as Apple Foundation Models version 11.

Apple is also developing an AI-powered wearable pin that is equipped with multiple cameras, a speaker, microphones and wireless charging. The device could be released as early as 2027, the report said.

It is important to note that Apple strives in the competitive AI landscape, the introduction of an AI-driven Siri could signify a shift in the company’s approach to smart assistants and its efforts to keep pace with the industry.
