Apple is set to introduce a number of advanced features to its lineup of Apple Watches with the upcoming release of watchOS 26.

The new operating system aims to improve user experience with a variety of innovative features.

Apple watchOS 26 features

Users can quickly dismiss incoming calls, notifications, and alarms with a wrist-flick gesture with the Apple Watch Series 9 or later at the forefront of the update.

Furthermore, the ambient noise tracking feature in watchOS 26 automatically modifies notification volumes to fit the ambient noise level.

The update uses Apple Intelligence to power a number of features, such as Workout Buddy, which offers tailored insights based on recent physical activity and health data.

Additional AI-powered features include contextual app recommendations in Smart Stack and automatic two-way translations in Messages.

In addition, watchOS 26 introduces a new design language called Liquid Glass, which gives watchfaces, widgets, and notifications a transparent appearance.

Apple watchOS 26 availability

Developers and public beta users have had access to watchOS 26, which was first introduced at WWDC 2025.

Users with compatible Apple Watch models, such as Series 6 and later, the second-generation Apple Watch SE, and the Apple Watch Ultra, will be able to purchase it starting on September 15.

Apple's position in the wearable technology market is expected to be further cemented with this update.
