Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 series may finally bridge the gap between its regular and Pro models, according to renowned display analyst Ross Young. The latest rumour suggests that the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim would feature Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) displays with 120Hz refresh rates, putting them on par with the Pro models.
Apple has maintained a strong distinction, especially when it comes to display technology, between regular and Pro iPhone models. An iPhone 16 sticks to the 60Hz refresh rate while the Pro models enjoy 120Hz "ProMotion" screens for smoother visuals.
What to expect from iPhone 17 series?
The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim are expected to support LTPO, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and ProMotion technology. Lastly, there would be an always-on display that was first seen on the iPhone 14 Pro. This would highly improve the user experience with a more refined visual experience.
No under-screen Face ID
Contrary to what earlier had been speculated, under-screen Face ID is not expected in iPhone 17 Pro and it instead would retain its Dynamic Island.
In the meantime, the standard iPhone 17 models would close in on the Pro line, so some innovation to offer differentiation and to upsell the iPhone 17 Pro is needed.

Features such as 12GB of RAM, more massive screens, or exclusive camera advantages have been said to be headed to the iPhone 17 Slim, which, according to reports, would be the costliest Apple handset ever.
This smoothening of gaps between models may well be strategic and Apple simply wants to provide sufficient justification for premium prices.
Analysts believe that such decision-making by Apple would increase the competition in the premium smartphone market and lead to sales of the iPhone 17 series, heightening user experience across the board.
