Google has launched its much-awaited Pixel 9 series at the Made by Google event. However, the Android maker has also discontinued the Pixel 7 series and the original Pixel Fold devices.

The Alphabet-owned company on Tuesday unveiled the Pixel 9 series, introducing four new models: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The tech giant has now ceased selling the original Pixel Fold and the Pixel 7 series, which included the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

Google's Pixel Fold discontinued

Google's Pixel Fold smartphone was already marked as “no longer available” even before the Made by Google event. However, the company decided to discontinue the Pixel 7 series later on.

Google’s first-generation Pixel Fold was launched in May 2023 as the company’s debut in the foldable smartphone market. The foldable smartphone featured water resistance, an innovative design, a custom-made Tensor G2 processor, and a 7.6-inch OLED internal display. It was also equipped with a 4,821 mAh battery.

Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro discontinued

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro were released in October 2022, powered by Google’s Tensor G2 processor. They were the first devices to include Google’s Photo Unblur feature, which used machine learning to improve blurry photos.

However, these devices will no longer be available for sale.
