At the global stage of the Asian Power Awards 2024 illuminating with energy-related innovations, K-Electric’s 560 MW Bin Qasim Power Station II (BQPS-II) secured two awards.

The innovative segments wherein the privatised power provider bagged accolades include Gas Power Project of the Year – Pakistan, and Power Plant Upgrade of the Year – Pakistan.

The infrastructure advancements to the high-end electricity power plant enhance the availability and reliability of the project installed into KE’s power generation lineup, which forms part of the $4 billion investment throughout the value chain post-privatisation.

The power plant's efficiency was elevated owing to the changes instilled in the project infrastructure to make the usage of RLNG as a secondary fuel possible, which shed considerable auxiliary load requirements.

The improved power generation efficiency positions BQPS-II as a formidable contender in the industry and a model for sustainable, resilient energy solutions in Pakistan.

Asian Power Awards are one of the most prestigious recognitions in the energy sector, encouraging firms like KE to implement innovative and transformative solutions to fulfil the rising demand for energy while ensuring sustainability.

Other well-famed energy providers ranked besides KE include Dubai Electric and Water Authority (DEWA) and China Resources Power Holding Company Limited which generates approximately 80 GW of electricity for China.
