Baldur's Gate 3 is an advanced role-playing game set in the universe of Forgotten Realms. Developed by Larian Studios, it combines a rich storyline with interactive combat and deep character customisation. The new Honour Mode difficulty option is for more advanced players desiring an even greater challenge.

How does Honour Mode work?

Honour Mode starts with Tactician and develops more serious rules, tougher bosses, and permadeath.

This mode is oriented toward experienced players who would like to challenge their experience and strategy. In Honour Mode, players have to make each decision count because there is only one save slot, and it is constantly overwritten.

In Honour Mode, party permadeath is enabled, which means that should all the characters fall into combat, the campaign will end.

Bosses now also have Legendary Actions, making them even more formidable opponents. Tactician rules apply as per increased enemy health and efficiency and more severe restrictions on action economy and damage bonuses.

When they have completed the game on Honour Mode, they will receive a Golden D20, a testament to their gaming skill. This is open to all players but is recommended for experienced players only from the outset. It may be turned on in the difficulty selection screen but is only active on new campaigns.
