In the latest bid to make Islamic banking widely available in the country, BankIslami has launched "aik", Pakistan's first fully digital Sharia-compliant banking solution.

Offering a number of reliable and ethical financial solutions under the roof of Islamic banking, BankIslami has over 540 branches nationwide, catering to users' all Sharia-compliant needs comprehensively, read a statement issued on Wednesday.

Given a stable uptick in tech-savvy clientele which has been increasing with time, BankIslami's aik comes at a time when the demand has been rising for digital, Riba-free financial products.

“Aik translates to ‘one’ — a symbol of simplicity, unity and our shared vision for an ethical, riba-free financial future,” said Ashfaque Ahmad, chief officer of aik.

“This platform fulfils a critical need in Pakistan’s banking landscape for a fully digital solution that aligns with Islamic principles without compromising convenience and accessibility,” he added.

In its own fashion, BankIslami's aik combines and offers all the fundamental features of banking, including digital account opening with biometric authentication, instant money transfers, bill payments, mobile top-ups and an internationally accessible debit card.

Pakistan's first fully digital banking platform is now available on Google Play and Apple App Store, and registering oneself on it requires not more than CNIC.
