EA is making it easier for players to earn Battlefield 6 rewards in Battlefield 2042, following mounting complaints about the grind-heavy nature of the progression system. The company has announced that it plans to roll out Double and Triple XP weekends systematically until the launch of Battlefield 6 this October.
The announcement comes just a few days after the release of Battlefield 2042's 9.2.0 update on August 18, which included a new battlepass released as part of the update, with many players criticising the length of time to complete the new battlepass, which included six reward packs that were all themed from different entries in the franchise.
Moreover, the battle pass was free, but many fans believed that it was simply a grind to earn. There was much backlash for the perceived lack of content, with EA and DICE noting the frustration and highlighting that they would conduct XP events every weekend until the sequel arrived.
Within the next few weeks until the launch of the next entry in October, Double XP weekends will help players progress through the game faster, and the last two weekends prior to the launch of Battlefield 6 will feature Triple XP events with an even larger boost.
EA also mentioned that they would be monitoring community sentiment and in-game data to see if any additional changes are necessary.
The Battlepass itself was structured to include six packs, themed around entries from the series. For example, the tier 8 unlock is the Western Front Pack, which came from Battlefield 1, with the tier four and nine unlocks as the Commander Pack, which took inspiration from Battlefield 4.
At the final Tier 60, players earn the Sovereign Soldier Pack tied to Battlefield 2042. Each pack includes a mix of skins, player card icons, titles, and dog tags.
Importantly, all these cosmetics will carry forward into Battlefield 6, which is set to launch on October 10, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
