Night in the Woods is a game to play every October if you're looking for a game that combines autumn feelings with an unsettling mystery.

This indie adventure does a fantastic job of giving you that feel of returning to a small town where you grew up, where something dark is hiding just underneath that surface.

You play as Mae Borowski, who drops out of college and returns to her hometown of Possum Springs, reconnects with her friends in what seems like a typical small town, but collectively they are discovering strange things occurring in their town.

No two playthroughs will ever be alike with the dialogue options and game choices you can make. This is why I think Night in the Woods is very much one of the best scary games for the fall; it combines great and heartfelt storytelling with a creeping sense of dread.

With a short playtime and high replayability, Little Nightmares II can be played quickly to be scared and enjoy the nice story for a great Halloween experience.

If you love fear punctuated with challenge, Bloodborne ranks exceptionally well in the horror genre due to its replayability during October.

As hunters in Yharnam, a cursed city, players engage in hunting horrifying beasts who stalk the night and uncovering ancient secrets about the mysterious ambiance of gothic horror. This world has a dark atmosphere, hyper-challenging combat, and peculiar lore, making it a favourite during every spooky season.

The New Game Plus in Bloodborne increases the difficulty, allowing players to take the fear to new heights during October nights.

Considered one of the greatest horror games ever made, Silent Hill 2 is still going strong after two decades away. The story follows James Sunderland as he travels to the foggy town of Silent Hill to find his late wife.

Known for its gruesome soundtrack, terrifying visuals, and emotional depth, the game is certainly unforgettable. The original and 2024 remake offer horrifically unsettling experiences that are just right for quick Halloween game binges.

Until Dawn

Until Dawn is a great pick for those who like interactive storytelling with lots of jump scares and a teen slasher feel. Set at a remote mountain lodge, each choice you make as a player determines the terrifying reactions of the friends that either prevent death or lead to horrible consequences of death.

Due to the nature of the game, there are so many endings and factors that influence the story that each time you play it, it is a unique experience, making it one of the coolest replays for Halloween horror.

Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo

For fans of chilling narratives over action, Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo is a hidden gem.

Its branching storylines and eerie atmosphere make Paranormasight one of the best underrated spooky games to replay every October.
