Samsung unveiled Ballie, a spherical AI-powered home robot, at the Consumers Electronics Show (CES) 2025, providing a glimpse into its features and capabilities.
This launch comes five years after Ballie’s initial CES debut in 2020, following design refinements to improve practicality.
This tennis ball-like robot is expected to be available for purchase in the first half of 2025 in the United States.
How does the Samsung AI robot Ballie works?
Ballie is an AI home companion that combines mobility, voice interaction, and projection technology. It has three wheels, a pair of cameras, a mini projector, speakers, and a microphone.
The AI robot can project information and entertainment content onto floors and walls, adjusting its position and projection surface accordingly.
During the event, Ballie demonstrated its capabilities by projecting information about a nearby attraction, the Sphere, onto a wall.
Moreover, users can control Ballie through voice commands and virtual buttons projected onto the floor. The robot can also be integrated with smart home systems to control lighting and automated routines.
Notably, Ballie’s response time to voice commands is quick, typically responding within a few seconds.
While pricing details remain unannounced, Ballie is set to compete in an emerging category of consumer companion robots which also includes Amazon's Astro.
