Samsung has officially kicked off the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada, by introducing Vision AI, a new suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features for its smart TV lineup.
This marks the start of what promises to be a highly eventful CES, with major announcements expected tomorrow. The show, running until January 10, will feature a host of innovations, from cutting-edge gadgets to advancements in automotive technology.
Vision AI: A smarter viewing experience
With Vision AI, Samsung is bringing AI-powered features, typically found in smartphones, to its smart TVs. These features are designed to offer users a more personalised and immersive viewing experience.
The Vision AI suite will be integrated into Samsung’s smart TV range, including Neo QLED, OLED, QLED, and The Frame, enhancing users’ understanding of the content they watch.
Samsung’s vision AI introduces several new features:
Click to Search
Inspired by Google and Samsung’s Circle to Search feature on smartphones, Click to Search enables users to access information about what’s on screen without disrupting their viewing experience. For instance, the feature can identify an actor on screen and provide details about the content.
Live Translate
Building on the Live Translate feature from Galaxy smartphones, this on-device AI tool offers real-time subtitle translations, allowing viewers to enjoy content in multiple languages.
Generative Wallpaper
The Generative Wallpaper feature allows users to create custom AI-generated wallpapers for their smart TVs, adding a unique touch to home entertainment systems.
Other announcements
In addition to Vision AI, Samsung showcased new flagship smart TVs, a smart mirror, and an ultra-short-throw projector at the event, hinting at an exciting year ahead for consumer electronics.
