In a surprising turn of events expected to be a game-changer for Pakistan's crypto space, Binance Founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has been appointed as a Strategic Advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC).
CZ, one of the most renowned individuals in the realm of web3, will play a vital role in managing and regulating cryptocurrencies.
“Pakistan is a country of 240 million people, over 60% of whom are under the age of 30. The potential here is limitless,” said CZ.
His appointment was made during his meeting with the PCC presided over by Muhammad Aurangzeb, the chairman of PCC and the federal minister for Finance and Revenue, alongside the chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, and various higher-up government officials.
“This is a landmark moment for Pakistan,” said Aurangzeb, adding: “We are sending a clear message to the world: Pakistan is open for innovation. With CZ onboard, we are accelerating our vision to make Pakistan a regional powerhouse for Web3, digital finance, and blockchain-driven growth.”
Speaking at the occasion, PCC CEO Bilal Bin Saqib expressed his views regarding CZ joining Pakistan's crypto regulatory body.
“Pakistan is opening its doors to the future of finance. And who better to guide us on this journey than CZ — a pioneer who built the world’s largest crypto exchange and changed the way billions think about financial freedom,” remarked Saqib.
It's noteworthy that CZ will be responsible to guide about regulations, infrastructure, education, and adoption of digital currencies.
Moreover, the crypto evengalist will also collaborate with government of Pakistan and the private sector to establish a compliant, inclusive, and globally competitive crypto ecosystem.
