Slovenia has officially become the latest country to welcome remote workers with the launch of its Digital Nomad Visa. Starting November 21, 2025, remote workers can now spend a year in Slovenia while continuing their online work for foreign employers or clients.

Digital nomads are individuals making a living by working remotely and traveling from place to place. Slovenia offers scenic landscapes, vibrant cities, and cultural diversity, making it a great destination for remote workers to live alongside work and adventure.

Slovenia Digital Nomad Visa 2025 eligibility

The Slovenia Digital Nomad Visa 2025 is designed for non-EU/EEA citizens who meet specific eligibility criteria. Applicants must:

  • Be employed by a company headquartered outside Slovenia
  • Work as a freelancer or contractor for international clients
  • Be self-employed, offering digital services to clients outside Slovenia
  • Not engage in any work for Slovenian clients or companies

The visa allows a 12-month stay. While it cannot be extended back-to-back, applicants may reapply six months after the previous visa expires, offering flexibility for those interested in returning.

To qualify, applicants must prove financial stability. Required documents may include:

  • Employment or service contracts
  • Recent salary slips
  • Bank statements showing regular income

You can submit applications at Slovenian embassies abroad or at local administrative units in Slovenia. This is particularly relevant for applicants already in Slovenia. During the application process, they are given a certificate of temporary residence.

Family members (spouses and children) can also join but cannot work unless they are also meeting their own requirements for remote work.

The Slovenia Digital Nomad Visa does not allow income or work to come from Slovenia. Violation will result in cancellation of your visa and/or banning you from living in Slovenia in the future.
