OpenAI has launched a new ChatGPT feature, named 'ChatGPT Health', in the United States (US), which will analyse people's medical records to give them better answers, but campaigners warn it raises privacy concerns.

OpenAI, in a blog post, stated: "ChatGPT Health builds on the strong privacy, security, and data controls across ChatGPT with additional, layered protections designed specifically for health— including purpose-built encryption and isolation to keep health conversations protected and compartmentalised."

Users can safely connect medical records and wellness app — like Apple Health, Function, and MyFitnessPal — to ground conversations in their own health information, so responses are more relevant and useful.

"Designed in close collaboration with physicians, ChatGPT Health helps people take a more active role in understanding and managing their health and wellness—while supporting, not replacing, care from clinicians," added OpenAI.

ChatGPT Health capabilities

ChatGPT Health is designed to support, not replace, medical care. It is not intended for diagnosis or treatment. Instead, it "helps you navigate everyday questions and understand patterns over time—not just moments of illness—so you can feel more informed and prepared for important medical conversations."

Keeping your health information protected and secure, Health operates as a separate space with enhanced privacy to protect sensitive data. Conversations in Health are not used to train our foundation models

ChatGPT Health availability

If you're looking ways to get access of the ChatGPT Health, then you can sign up for the waitlist. OpenAI stated that a small group of early users will get access to learn and continue refining the experience. Users with ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans outside of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom (UK) are eligible.

Meanwhile, the company plans to expand access and make Health available to all users on web and iOS in the near future.
