
In line with a notable surge in the normalisation of electric vehicles (EVs) across Pakistan, Dewan Group of Industries, a well-established industrial conglomerate in the country, on Monday unveiled its plans to launch 500 electric taxis (e-taxis) in Sindh.
The project aims to reduce transport-driven carbon emissions to promote eco-friendly mobility. According to The News, the cost of 500 EVs was estimated at around Rs2.5 billion.
This remarkable development was revealed during a meeting at the Sindh Investment Department’s office, where the special assistant to the Chief Minister for Investment and Public-Private Partnership, Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, met Dewan Group Chairman Dewan Muhammad Yousuf Farooqui.
Farooqui assured us that the company was committed to addressing the province's transport-oriented issues by offering solutions that are in line with environmental sustainability.
“This project aligns perfectly with the Sindh government’s vision of promoting environment-friendly transport systems,” he said. “It will not only enhance public mobility but also strengthen technological advancements in the region,” said Qamar while highlighting Dewan Group's initiative as a pivotal role in setting aside Sindh’s transportation challenges.
He believed that the project would introduce eco-friendly transport in Sindh and stimulate economic stability by creating employment opportunities for youth.
