The Xpeng G7 is the brand's new electric SUV featuring a new smart AR-HUD system developed in partnership with Huawei.

Specifically designed for drivers to achieve a safer and more high-tech driving experience.

The mid-size Xpeng G7, set for pre-sale on June 11, will be the first vehicle available in the larger crescendo to show the "Chasing Light Panorama" Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR-HUD), which will eventually reach all new vehicles.

As with any advanced technology, this AR-HUD requires time for adjustment, but according to Xpeng, the digital information is projected directly onto the car's windscreen, allowing drivers to keep their attention on the road as much as possible.

The fully configurable AR-HUD will show lane-level navigation, safety alerts, pedestrian and priority signs, traffic signal countdown timers, and display warnings for turns and merges.

Furthermore, the AR-HUD can adapt to challenging driving environments such as tunnels and roundabouts with altitudes to reduce distractions when driving through these areas and ultimately build driver confidence.

According to Xpeng, Huawei's optical technology is the foundation of the display from a use case perspective and enables us to leverage LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) modules to provide a bright, colourful, clear view (even in sunshine!) and minimal lag while displaying real-time data on the perspective view of the driver's direction of travel.

With features like slope correction, image stabilisation, and ultra-low latency, the system ensures a smooth and accurate visual experience.

The AR-HUD is also fully integrated with Xpeng’s XNGP autonomous driving platform. This allows the system to offer real-time blind spot alerts, obstacle warnings, and smart route suggestions, turning the display into more than just a dashboard but a digital co-pilot.

Xpeng G7 price

The G7 is expected to be priced at approximately 250,000 yuan ($36,000) depending on competitive pricing from rival brands and is part of Xpeng's EV production lineup that wants to make small-footprint, smart, consumer-ready electric vehicles.
