In what appears to be a discouraging development for users, Google Play has removed the Drastic Nintendo DS emulator.

While the reason behind the app's elimination from the app store has not been disclosed reports suggested that it was the developer, not Nintendo, that prompted its removal.

DraStic is an emulator developed by Exophase, which has been available on the Google Play Store for over a decade.

Developer Exophase made Drastic free to download last year and suggested that it planned to remove the app from Google Play and open-source its code, although that never happened.

The announcement came after a Nintendo settlement took down the Switch emulator Yuzu and the Nintendo 3DS emulator Citra.

The loss of the Drastic Nintendo DS emulator is a heavy blow to the wider emulator scene, which was rocked by Nintendo’s legal moves against Yuzu last year.
