In the wake of the recent circulation of rumours on the internet suggesting that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will not issue fresh banknotes this Eidul Fitr, the central bank has issued a clarification in this regard.

Upholding the tradition of releasing all-new currency notes on the occasion of Eidul Fitr, the central bank has confirmed to be releasing fresh banknotes to commercial banks on the auspicious occasion.

The clarification has emerged as a sigh of relief to the general public eager to purchase fresh currency notes as usual. Those willing to do so can head to a nearby commercial bank branch.

By now, the SBP has issued new banknotes of all denominations worth Rs27 billion to 17,000 branches of commercial banks.

The distribution of these banknotes to the public will be carried out through the commercial bank's vast branch networks countrywide.

In addition to the massive supply of fresh banknotes, banks have also been directed to ensure continuous provision of fine-quality banknotes to the general public at ATMs during the festive season.
