The footfall of electric vehicles has reached almost every corner of Pakistan, and since this reception has been largely private, the Sindh government has made an incredible move to change that, gearing up to launch Pakistan’s first government-run EV taxi service by December 2025.
Sindh government's EV taxi service will first be launched in Karachi, with the aim of providing eco-friendly, affordable, and modern travel options in the city.
The EV taxi service is part of Sindh’s bigger transport plans, following the introduction of the Pink Bus Service and Pink Scooty scheme, both focused on improving safe mobility for women.
The most notable point is that a portion of the EV taxi fleet will be dedicated to women passengers, building on the government’s gender-sensitive approach to public transport, TechJuice reported.
It was also highlighted that the EV taxi service will help cut carbon emissions, reduce reliance on conventional fuels, and promote a greener transport system across Sindh.
Advertisements and further operational details will be shared when the launch window draws closer, officials confirmed, adding that the service is expected to expand to other urban centres after Karachi.
