The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially extended the deadline for sales tax integration with its computerised system. Announcement of this extension is aimed to provide businesses extra days to complete the integration.
The new deadlines are July 1, 2025, for corporate sales tax registered persons and August 1, 2025, for non-corporate registered persons.
The tax authority issued a detailed instruction to its field offices about the revised dates on Tuesday. This extension is part of the FBR's powers under Section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 and in accordance with Rule 150Q of the Sales Tax Rules, 2006.
In the office order, it states that the taxpayer can integrate either through a licensed integrator or Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL).
The integration is part of an overall digitisation process by the FBR to help better monitor business transactions and limit the chances of tax evasion.
Moreover, the field formations have been instructed in this notice to ensure all businesses understand the new timeframes for integration as well as understand to comply as instructed.
A letter was also issued to Chief Commissioners in all regions to help these organisations implement this extension and help the taxpayer in completing their integration into the system.
