Notably, the federal government will announce the Budget 2025-26 on Tuesday.
Pakistan Economic Survey 2024-25
The Economic Survey is an important pre-budget document assessing the country's socio-economic development in the previous fiscal year. It also addresses key areas in agriculture, manufacturing, services, energy, information technology, health, and education.
Additionally, it includes updated figures on inflation, trade, public debt, employment, and climate change impacts.
Moreover, the report is essential for planning and policymaking prior to the Federal Budget 2025/26. It summarises the government's assessment of the previous year's economic performance and includes agriculture, manufacturing, energy, IT, services, health, and education.
According to Geo News, the official statistics state that Pakistan's GDP growth rate for 2024–25 is projected at 2.7%. The target for 2025/26 is 4.2%. A significant contributor was the 30.9% boost in remittances recorded from July 2024 to April 2025, and, for the first time, the current account balance recorded a surplus.
The report is also likely to show improving fiscal measures, as reflected in a 2.6% of GDP fiscal deficit and a primary surplus of 3%. Interest rates have fallen to 11%, with loans to the private sector of Rs681 billion.
Furthermore, the Economic Survey 2024–25 will also share updates on inflation, public debt, employment, trade, and the effects of climate change. It reflects growing signs of recovery through combined efforts of federal and provincial authorities.
