In an effort to enhance road safety and traffic management, Inspector General (IG) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has launched the latest policy targeting drivers without any valid licences in Karachi. This significant move aims to establish a more streamlined traffic system with greater efficiency and address the rising number of Transportation challenges in the metropolitan city of Karachi.

Addressing traffic-related issues in Karachi

Outlining the significant role of non-professional drivers in causing severe accidents and other traffic-related issues, IG Memon underscored the reckless driving practices that contribute to road risks. Memon stated: “Untrained drivers are a major cause of traffic congestion and accidents. This policy is designed to address these challenges and improve road safety for everyone."

Stricter strict law enforcement and accountability

The Sindh Police will ensure compliance with strict regulations with the revised policy. In addition, the government is set to introduce further measures to diligently monitor and track repeat offenders.

Drivers repeatedly caught without a license will certainly face serious legal repercussions.

Moreover, the government intends to improve accountability measures within the police departments. Officers failing to register these cases will face immediate disciplinary measures, with Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) held accountable for any shortcomings. These measures aim to strengthen the impact of this initiative.
