Saudi Arabia’s low-cost airline, Flyadeal, has officially started its flight operations in Pakistan. The airline launched its first flight, F3 166, which arrived in Karachi from Saudi Arabia on Saturday. The arrival was welcomed with a traditional water salute at Jinnah International Airport.
Flyadeal is a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s national carrier, Saudia. It is known for offering affordable and reliable air travel options. The airline is expected to enhance connectivity between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia by providing direct flights between major cities.
Flyadeal’s expansion in Pakistan
In November 2024, Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approved Flyadeal’s request to operate in the country. The airline will initially offer flights from Riyadh to Karachi, with additional routes connecting Karachi, Riyadh, and Jeddah.
This development brings more travel options for passengers flying between the two countries. Saudi Arabia is a key destination for many Pakistani travellers, including business professionals, tourists, and those going for religious pilgrimages such as Umrah and Hajj.
Flyadeal’s entry into the Pakistani market is expected to create competition, potentially leading to better services and lower fares for travellers. More flight choices mean greater convenience, especially for those who frequently travel between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Additionally, Flyadeal’s launch in Pakistan is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader aviation strategy. The Kingdom is investing heavily in expanding its air travel sector under its Vision 2030 plan. This includes increasing seating capacity, adding new aircraft, and connecting more global destinations.
Saudi Arabia’s national carrier, Saudia, has also maintained its reputation as one of the most punctual airlines. According to Cirium’s July 2024 report, Saudia achieved an on-time arrival rate of 88.12% and a departure rate of 88.15%. The airline managed 16,503 flights across four continents, proving its commitment to efficiency and quality service.
Notably, with the addition of 103 new aircraft to its fleet, Saudi Arabia aims to further strengthen its presence in the global aviation industry. Saudia is also a member of the SkyTeam alliance, allowing seamless connections with major international airlines.
