Fortnite has taken a significant step towards promoting responsible gaming habits among its young players. Developed by Epic Games, Fortnite has become a cultural phenomenon with millions of players worldwide.

Fortnite new feature

Epic Games has implemented a feature that enables parents to set limits on their children's hours spent playing Fortnite. This would address the parent's concerns about the excessive time that the child spends playing games.

This update would allow the parents to manage their child's gaming habits better so that their child plays a healthier proportion of games and other things.

This Fortnite update encourages parents to manage their child’s gaming habits, ensuring a healthier balance between gaming and other activities.

How Fortnite feature works?

With the new Fortnite feature parents can:

  • Set daily time limits for Fortnite play.
  • Choose specific time windows for play.
  • Decide if their child can request extra playtime.
  • Monitor playtime through the Time Reports dashboard.

When time limits are enabled, children would receive an in-game notification when they have 30 minutes left. This feature tracks playtime across Epic Games-made modes, including Battle Royale and Lego Fortnite, as well as creator-made experiences built with the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN).

Existing parental controls

Epic Games already offers several parental controls, including:

  • Restricting access to certain experiences based on their rating
  • Requiring parental approval for purchases
  • Allowing parents to view their child's play history

Benefits for parents

These new controls provide parents with:

  • Greater oversight of their child's gaming habits
  • Ability to encourage responsible gaming practices
  • Peace of mind knowing their child's playtime is monitored
