Foxconn of Taiwan and America's leading chip company, Nvidia, are partnered on introducing humanoid robots to a new AI server factory in Houston, Texas, to be completed in early 2026, according to sources.
These human-like robots are being designed to help manufacture Nvidia's GB300 AI servers, which are essential in building powerful AI supercomputers.
If development becomes finalised, it would be the first time humanoid robots were used on the production line to make Nvidia products, opening new horizons into how factories may function in the future.
Foxconn is training these robots to perform many tasks like picking up items, plugging in cables and assisting with assembly.
The robots will either have legs or wheels, with the latter providing a lower cost, according to a presentation by Foxconn and comments from Leo Guo, general manager of Foxconn's robotics business.
Deploying humanoid robots fits into Nvidia's much broader AI vision.
In April, Nvidia disclosed its plans to build new AI manufacturing sites in Texas with partners Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas, with both locations expected to start production in the next 12 to 15 months.
Sources say Foxconn's Houston plant was chosen because it is new and offers more space compared to older manufacturing sites. The robots are expected to be on the floor by the first quarter of 2026 when production begins.
Foxconn will showcase two robot models at its annual tech event this November.
