Causing immense buzz among artificial intelligence (AI) freaks and developers alike, Google has rolled out Gemini 2.5 Pro, calling it the most advanced AI model it ever released.
Following significant demand from Gemini's vast user base, the tech giant has increased the AI model’s rate limits and made it affordable to attract new users.
As per VentureBeat, Gemini 2.5 Pro is now available in public preview through the Gemini API in Google AI Studio. The latest pro version will soon be released on Vertex AI as well.
Google outlined developer feedback as a noteworthy reason behind what truly prompted it to bring a Gemini Pro update.
“We’ve seen incredible enthusiasm and early adoption,” Google said in a blog post.
Gemini 2.5 Pro will be priced at $1.24 per million input tokens for the public preview, whereas developers will be granted higher rate limits.
Gemini 2.5 Pro is more affordable compared to competitors like Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet which costs $3 for input and $15 for output tokens.
For comparison, bear in mind that OpenAI’s o1 model is priced at $15 for input and $60 for output, while GPT-4o is $2.50 for inputs and $10 for outputs.
The model is also the first Google AI release, which merged higher usage limits with direct billing.
