Part of Google's efforts to expand its in-house artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot to its entire flagship product lineups, Gemini for TV is now rolling out to Google TV Streamer devices.

The expansion of Gemini for TV aims to make it break free from its exclusive availability on select smart TVs since its launch in September. However, Gemini for TV can now be used on any TV featuring an HDMI port, by anyone, anywhere. The cable should be HDCP 1.3 or later, and a stable internet connection.

The TV-oriented Gemini version replaces Google Assistant, maintaining similar voice assistant functionalities but with a more conversational tone.

With Gemini for TV, users can request movie recommendations tailored to their genres or ask for summaries of shows they are actively watching. Moreover, it can also assist with smart home tasks, such as displaying camera feeds.

The rollout of Gemini for TV will span over the next few weeks, so users not seeing it now should remain patient.

How to check if Gemini for TV is available for my device?

To check for the update, you can navigate to Google TV Streamer's settings, select your account under "Accounts & Profiles," and then choose "Voice Assistant." If your device is eligible for the update, an option for "Gemini for TV" will be visible.

This rollout is anticipated to improve user experience by providing fine-tuned voice interaction and functionality, and making it easier for viewers to enjoy their favourite content and manage smart home devices without any hassle.
