Google is testing a fresh look for its AI Overviews in search, with a new Gemini-style animation making its way to the loading screen. This feature, which gives users an AI-generated summary of their search query, is now getting a visual upgrade.

The new animation, spotted by a Reddit user, includes blue and green hues, reminiscent of Google's Gemini branding, along with new on-screen text that adds a personalised touch to the waiting experience.

What’s new in AI Overviews animation feature?

The updated animation features text such as "Working on this" and "Putting it all together" while users wait for results. This is a departure from the previous blue lines on the loading screen.

The new colours and phrases create a more engaging and dynamic experience, giving users a sense of progress as they await their results.

A video shared by the Reddit user shows that "Working on this" might sometimes be replaced with "Looking this up," offering a slight variation to keep the animation fresh.

When can we expect this feature?

The updated Gemini-style animation isn’t widely available yet. Currently, it’s only accessible to a limited number of users, as Google is testing the new animation in connection with the Gemini 2.0 model for AI Overviews.

While the feature is still in testing, it is likely to be more widely rolled out after further refinement.
