Google marked its entry at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada, by unveiling an AI-powered TV, the company’s latest TV operating system.
Running until January 10, the CES 2025 will feature a host of companies’ innovations during the next few days.
The AI-powered TV utilises Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, to summarise the news for users. Dubbed "News Brief," this new capability gathers news stories from trusted news channels on YouTube and across the web.
AI-powered TV availability
Notably, this AI-powered TV is slated for release on new and existing Google TV devices by the end of 2025.
By generating a brief summary, the AI-powered TV will keep users informed about current events. Moreover, it will also enable users to create personalised artwork.
Google’s implementation of AI news summaries follows earlier challenges with AI-generated content accuracy across the technology sector.
Currently, tech companies, including OpenAI, Microsoft, and Perplexity, are facing lawsuits from media outlets over licensing and crediting concerns.
The tech giant itself experienced AI hallucinations in the past, including a notable incident where Gemini advised users to put glue on their pizza.
Moreover, recently, Apple’s AI-generated summaries also misunderstood a BBC news article, creating a false headline about Spanish former tennis player Rafael Nadal.
