In a progressive turn of events, Google Wallet has made a groundbreaking debut in Pakistan, aligning with the country's ongoing efforts to normalise digital payments.
As Pakistanis are increasingly embracing cashless payment methods, Google Wallet comes in a bid to revamp the traditionally existing payment methods and offer a one-stop solution for a range of online transaction needs.
With Google Wallet, users across Pakistan can tap-and-pay in stores, check out online, and easily access their boarding passes when travelling.
Regarding Google Wallet's launch in Pakistan, Google Pakistan Country Director Farhan Qureshi said: "More importantly, this launch will go a long way in supporting financial inclusion in Pakistan and unlock economic opportunities for all. This milestone further cements Google's unwavering commitment to Pakistan, reinforcing our belief in its digital future and potential.”
Which credit and debit cards are supported on Google Wallet in Pakistan?
Starting today, cardholders of Bank AlFalah (Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards), Bank of Punjab (Mastercard credit cards), Faysal Bank Noor (Mastercard debit cards), HBL (Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards), Jazzcash (Mastercard debit cards), Meezan Bank (Visa and Mastercard debit cards) and UBL (Visa and Mastercard debit cards) can add their cards to Google Wallet and pay with their Android phones or Wear OS devices wherever contactless payments are accepted.
Google Wallet for boarding passes in Pakistan
Apart from storing and accessing payment cards, Google Wallet will also allow Pakistanis to add boarding passes from Batik Air and Thai Airways. Users will also be notified of departure time and gate changes to provide a hassle-free travel experience.
