Pakistan is all set to launch 5G services, initially planned for major cities, including Islamabad and provincial capitals within five to six months. Ahead of its release, citizens are concerned about whether or not their smartphones support 5G.

Many smartphone users assume that 5G services will work automatically, but it's not true. Pakistanis need a compatible phone with all the supported 5G bands to access the next-generation cellular network.

How to confirm 5G support on smartphone

Firstly, you need to open your smartphone's settings.
Tap 'Network & Internet' or 'Connections'.
Select 'Mobile Network'.
Then, you need to open 'Preferred Network Type' or 'Network Mode'.

If you see options such as

5G / 4G / 3G
5G auto
5G only

Then your phone supports 5G.

However, if your smartphone shows 4G/LTE or lower options, then your phone does not support 5G services. Meanwhile, for Apple users, all iPhones launches after the iPhone 11 support 5G. So newer iPhones are ready for the upgrade.

It is important to note that sometimes manufacturers enable 5G support through OS or iOS updates.
