Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned citizens to remain viligant of fraudulent calls and SMS messages, which aims to steal personal information.
PTA, in its advisory, said that scammers often impersonate officials from the authority, banks, or courier services to gain the trust of individuals. Citizens should report any such fraudulent activity or suspicious message through PTA's official complaint portal, pta.gov.pk or via the PTA CMS App available on Google Play and Apple App Store.

The authority advised Pakistanis not to share sensitive information such as CNIC numbers, one-time passwords (OTPs), or account passwords with anyone.
Moreover, citizens need to stay caution against clicking on any type of suspicious or unknown links, which may lead to data theft or financial fraud.
Earlier, PTA released a guide video for the recovery of a hacked WhatsApp account without panicking at the moment. PTA, in a released guide video, stated: "The incidents of WhatsApp hacking have increased to an alarming extent in Pakistan. Every day, common citizens, elderly people, women, students, and people associated with business are being deprived of their WhatsApp accounts.
"If your WhatsApp is hacked, instead of panicking, take the right action. Your WhatsApp account can be reactivated with a few simple steps," said the authority.
