Google is on the verge of releasing its eagerly awaited Pixel 9 Pro Fold this August, along with the rest of the Pixel 9 lineup.
The new Fold adorns a drastically new design, ditching its predecessor’s short and wide aspect ratio of the outer display, and the super wide inner display for a more ‘traditional’ design.
This brings it in line with other book-styled foldable concepts on the market. It's most reminiscent of last year’s OnePlus Open.
Fresh leaks of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold lifted the veil off its outer display, showcasing it to be wider than that of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The inner display is a pleasant surprise, as it supports a far-less noticeable crease down its centre.

Starting with the outside, the parts of the device where the glass meets the hinge have the glass curve in line with the opposite side, meeting a piece of metal that lines up with the flat edge of the hinge. That also makes for a front display which has a not-small, but distinctive bezel.
From the interior, the display sports uniform bezels and a raised block piece of plastic mounted on the top-right selfie camera for protection. All of these design aspects draw memory of the OnePlus Open, sure, a ton of foldable in the market are quite similar but none so similar as this.
Google hasn’t found itself in this scenario for the first time, the original Pixel Fold had some suspicious similarities to OPPO’s Find N Foldables as well.
This does float the idea of OPPO’s involvement in manufacturing Google’s foldable but that's perhaps just imagination, regardless, imitating design isn’t entirely in poor taste especially if it's the gold standard of the Oneplus Open.
