Rockstar Games has finally released the first trailer of the much-awaited Grand Thief Auto (GTA) 6.

Why GTA 6 trailer released early?

Rockstar Games dropped the trailer ahead of schedule because an unofficial glimpse of the trailer was leaked on X (formerly Twitter) by an X user @Gtatrailerleak at 5:30 PM ET, taking the hype to skyrocketing heights. However, the tipster's account was taken down by X at 6 PM ET.

Meanwhile, the teaser was officially set to release on December 5, 2023.

Reflecting on the leaks after the trailer's official release, the developer posted a tweet on X, writing "Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube.”

The trailer leak comes on the heels of a GTA 6 gameplay video going viral on TikTok, giving a sneak peek into the action-adventure gameplay and map of the upcoming game that sent the gaming community into a frenzy.

In a statement about GTA 6, Rockstar Games stated: “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet."

The trailer, uploaded on the official channel of the publisher on YouTube, secured a massive 11 million views within just two hours after being uploaded.

What's new in GTA 6?

The first trailer Grand Theft Auto VI unveiled a glimpse of a new female protagonist. Acting more as a teaser, the trailer introduces Lucia, a woman attributing her imprisonment to what she describes as "bad luck, I guess."

The teaser further boasts a series of flashing scenes set to feature Tom Petty’s “Love is a Long Road” beach trips, late-night parties, and a lot of butts, as Lucia plans a robbery with a partner. It’s the first time Grand Theft Auto has included a female antihero, and it appears players will be returning to Vice City.
