Among rising tensions in the US-China semiconductor industry, Huawei is reportedly working on a brand-new artificial intelligence (AI) chip, known as Ascend 910C. The new processor appears like an effort by the company to rival Nvidia artificial intelligence chipsets in China.
According to the Wall Street Journal report, Huawei is preparing the Ascend 910C AI chip in China. The tech giant started checking the chipset with numerous Chinese internet and telecom partners to examine its overall potential along with performance efficiency.
The report unveiled that companies such as ByteDance, Baidu, and China Mobile have attained the Ascend 910C chipset. With a few test results, the Chinese tech maker informed its clients that the latest AI processor can rival the Nvidia H100.
It is to be noted that Huawei has been doing these trials for a long time. It results in the new chipset being almost developed. Additionally, WSJ noticed that the Chinese tech giant could start shipping the chip by October.

Moreover, WSJ added that Huawei and its potential clients have negotiated for 70000+ chip orders. These are expected to cost $2 billion. Huawei will be able to draw level with its competitors in the smart AI chipsets race.
Huawei vs Nvidia
It looks like the tech giant, Huawei is making efforts to fill the gaps left by Nvidia in its home ground. The Nvidia H100 launched the previous year never came directly to China because of the US ban. The chipmaker was ordered not to ship any advanced processors in the region.
Although the company introduced three new chips for China, they were of very low quality and didn’t meet industrial requirements.
The Original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is still working with production delay issues, yet the new report indicated that the tech giant is handling to break off the US sanctions and become independent.
Meanwhile, Nvidia is developing a new China-oriented chip B20. However, if it doesn’t conform to US regulations, it won’t be shipped to China. SemiAnalysis research firm analyst said that he sees Huawei Ascend 910C as an advanced chip that could perform better than the Nvidia B20 processor.
