Apple released the fifth iteration of the iOS 18.1 beta version which includes various improvements and new options for the Camera Control button exclusive to the iPhone 16 line up, new toggles for the Control Center, and a hidden hearing aid feature for AirPods Pro 2.
iPhone 16's Camera Control
The Camera Control button is one of the major camera-related upgrades on the iPhone 16 models, designed to make it easier for users to capture photos and videos.
The camera button is touch and force-sensitive and supports swipes and other gestures for choosing between the camera options.

A single click on the button opens the camera, a second click takes a photo, and a click-and-hold starts recording a video.
However, a light press opens up control options such as Zoom, and users can swap tools with a double light press while parameters like zoom and exposure can be adjusted with a swipe.
New selfie option on Camera Control
iOS 18.1 developer beta 5 has introduced a new option for the button which allows users to take selfies with it. To use the new selfie option,
- Press the "Camera Control" button and open the Camera app.
- Using swipe gesture scroll through iPhone's different lenses, and choose the one you want to use.
- A "person-type" icon activates the front-facing camera.
- Notably, if the Camera Control is already set to a different setting, users will need to open up the Camera app.
- Press the Camera Control button and tap on the screen to swap tools.
- The selfie camera and other lens options will be found under the "Cameras" heading.
Currently, iOS 18.1 beta 5 is available to developer beta for testing while a new public beta might be released later this week.
