A new car registration system has been introduced by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government on Wednesday, enabling residents to own and keep their registration numbers.
Even after selling their car, citizens will retain their registration number under the PRM system.
The buyer will apply for a new number, but the seller will keep the number for free. Additionally, a person may have their number unattached to any vehicle for a maximum of three years.
The registration number will belong to the person rather than the car, much like a Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) or cellphone number, with the new system.
According to KPK Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, the digital registration platform will aid in the eradication of illicit activity and make the procedure quick, clear, and devoid of corruption.
For the benefit of the general people, he instructed the Excise Department to implement an online registration system.
With the introduction of the PRM System, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's vehicle registration procedure would be more transparent and effective, making it simpler for residents to own and operate their cars.
