Tech giant Meta recently took the world by surprise by launching its first standalone artificial intelligence (AI) assistant app, making its AI ecosystem more widely available.
The app has been designed to assist in voice-based conversations. It uses Meta’s latest large language model, Llama 4, and has long been integrated into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.

The most standout feature of the Meta AI app is a “discover feed,” which allows users to see how others interact with AI. It also shows popular prompts that can be remixed and personalised.
It must be noted that on the Meta AI app, users have full control over their posts, meaning that nothing appears on their public feed unless they willingly share it.
“With the ability to search across the web, it can help you get recommendations, deep dive on a topic, and stay connected with your friends and family,” Meta said. “Or if you’re just looking to play around with it, it provides conversation starters to inspire your searches.”
It was learned that the Meta AI app is connected to meta.ai, the web portal of the company's flagship AI offering, letting users resume conversations and tasks from any device.
The Meta AI app is designed to help with everyday queries, let users learn in detail about any topic their minds come up with, and generate recommendations and new ideas through conversations.

To the delight of AI enthusiasts, Meta AI's web version has also been upgraded for larger screens. The updated Meta AI enables the generation of enhanced images which users can complement with new styles and lighting.
