Like most other Silicon Valley giants enhancing and expanding their flagship artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots or churning out new ones, Meta has announced to release Meta AI in the European Union starting "this week".

Meta AI's EU launch comes a year after it was integrated across all Meta platforms in April last year, which followed its rollout in the United States in September 2023.

"It's taken longer than we would have liked to get our AI technology into the hands of people in Europe as we continue to navigate its complex regulatory system — but we're glad we're finally here," the tech giant said in a statement.

"Starting this week, Meta AI will begin rolling out across 41 European countries," read the Meta statement.

Since the Meta AI chatbot will initially restricted to text-only responses across European countries, the limitation will reportedly be compensated by the inclusion of web searches.

As boasted by the Facebook parent, the AI assistant is designed to improve user engagement by allowing users to "deep dive on topics of interest, or get help with a 'how-to' or a problem that needs solving" such as planning a trip.
