Meta releases Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick, its 'most advanced' AI models

As a battle among Big Tech has been raging around the development in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), Meta has released the Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick, the company's latest AI models built upon the existing Llama 3.

According to the Facebook parent company, Llama is a multimodal AI system, a special AI model capable of dealing with various types of data, including text, video, images and audio. Moreover, it can also convert content across all these content formats.

The tech giant boasts the Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick as its "most advanced models yet" and "the best in their class for multimodality," according to Reuters.

It's worth mentioning that both versions of the latest Meta AI models will be open-source. Meta is also testing Llama 4 Behemoth, calling it "one of the smartest LLMs in the world and our most powerful yet to serve as a teacher for our new models."

The assortment of these top-tier AI models from Meta comes amid tech giants vividly investing enormously in the AI infrastructure, an aggravated turn of a rivalry that kicked off following the skyrocketing success of OpenAI's ChatGPT.

It also came to light that the latest LLMs were deferred for not being on par with Meta's expectations with its latest series of Llama models, particularly involving performance on key benchmarks of reasoning and mathematics.
