In a bid to facilitate Pakistanis, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a major service, removing the requirement to physically visit union councils for birth and death registrations.
To build Pakistan a digital country, NADRA has begun an online service where people can complete these registrations from home through the Pak-ID mobile app.
Once you have registered online, the details go straight to the concerned union council, cutting down the hassle of long trips and queues.
It is worth noting that currently, the service is active in three districts:
- Chakwal – 71 union councils
- Jhelum – 44 union councils
- Nankana Sahib – 65 union councils
Moreover, NADRA’s Pak-Identity app provides online facilities such as CNIC renewal, reprint, and modification.
According to NADRA, it will expand the service to all districts of Pakistan in different phases so everyone can use this digital registration system, eliminating the need to visit the NADRA office.
The Pak-ID app supports multiple payment methods, such as debit/credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), Easypaisa, JazzCash, and e-Sahulat.
However, people applying for their first CNIC still need to visit NADRA’s office in person. This step is important as it ensures each citizen is officially recognised and included in the country’s records.
Fee structure for CNIC services
Category | Processing time | Fee (Rs) |
Executive | 7 days | Rs2,500 |
Urgent | 15 days | Rs1,500 |
Normal | 30 days | Rs750 |
With the introduction of new services, NADRA aims to make it easier, faster, and more accessible for people in Pakistan to register their identity and essential life events without unnecessary delays.
