The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) on Tuesday issued an alert, advising all married citizens to update their marital status in official records at the earliest opportunity to prevent legal complications.
In its Facebook post, the authority stated that different individuals have registered their marriages with the Union Councils (UCs), but their details have yet to be updated in the Nadra database.
Such individuals — who are seeking to update their details — are advised to promptly visit the Nadra centre to have their marital status updated correctly without any misinformation or errors.
Fee for update in marital status
Nadra said that a fee of Rs100 is charged for updating marital status on a Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), as this change is categorised as an 'unprintable alteration'.
You can easily get further information or guidance through the helpline at 1777 — for mobile users — or 051-111-786-100, and by visiting the nearest Nadra centre.
It should be noted that applicants need to submit relevant documents, such as a marriage certificate or nikahnama, depending on their case, while submitting their request.
