The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has officially announced a decrease in electricity prices for consumers nationwide, including those in Karachi.
According to the official notification, NEPRA announced a reduction of Rs1.78 per unit, applicable to all distribution companies (DISCOs), including K-Electric (KE).
“The relief is based on the variation in fuel costs for July and will be reflected in electricity bills for September,” NEPRA stated.
Notably, the reduction comes under the fuel charge adjustment (FCA) for the month of July 2025.
The price reduction on electricity will apply to all consumer categories served by K-Electric and Ex-WAPDA Distribution Companies, except for lifeline consumers, protected residential users, electric vehicle charging stations, and prepaid meter users on fixed tariff plans.
“Consumers will see this relief in their September bills, calculated based on their July electricity usage,” the notification added.
Earlier this year, the federal government officially handed over the responsibility of distributing electricity bills nationwide to Pakistan Post.
It is worth noting that NEPRA has directed all distribution companies to clearly itemise the FCA adjustment on consumers’ bills. In cases where September bills have already been issued, the relief will be reflected in the following billing cycle.
