As Nintendo Switch 2 caused a frenzy in the gaming sphere after months of waiting very recently, now the classic Switch iteration is set to make rounds by allowing gamers to use a USB mouse in at least one game.
Citing a Koei Tecmo developer video for the upcoming Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition, The Verge reported that the mouse support is a welcome inclusion for those who are often uncomfortable with Joy-Con controllers.
In the purported video, producer Michi Ryu demonstrated the game by plugging in a USB mouse, which was recognised by the Switch 2, eventually allowing him to switch between using the mouse and the left Joy-Con 2.
This functionality is similar to how players can alternate between gyro and mouse control in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
While the original Switch supported both mouse and keyboard, only a few games, like the Turok port, were compatible with it.
Those having Turok are advised to plug in a mouse and keyboard to experience the incredible integration of a peripheral.
With the development at hand, it appears that Nintendo is now more open to mouse support, as the company released a video earlier this month, showing how placing a Joy-Con 2 on its edge invokes a mouse pointer for navigating the system’s menu.
It should be noted that it remains to be officially confirmed if the standard mouse will work interchangeably with the Joy-Con 2 in all games with mouse control support.
