Pakistan, China to boost cooperation in digital technology, AI, and ICT

Pakistan and China have agreed to work together in digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and ICT development to help modernise Pakistan’s tech sector. The agreement was made during a meeting between Pakistan’s IT and Telecom minister and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad.

The two nations reinforced their intentions to cooperate for the digital transformation of Pakistan. This collaboration is directed at enhancing ICT infrastructure, AI capacity, and digital governance to bring sustainable benefits to Pakistan's technology industry and economy.

Both sides deliberated on how to advance digital transformation, e-governance, and smart cities in Pakistan. China, which is famous for its progress in AI and ICT, will offer skills and assistance to assist Pakistan in enhancing its digital infrastructure. 

The minister pointed out Pakistan's digital development vision, stating that cooperation with China will assist in increasing the digital economy.

Another important area of discussion was opportunities for Pakistani students in China. Both nations intend to provide degree programmes in data science and AI, as well as training and exchange programmes. These initiatives seek to build a highly skilled ICT and digital governance workforce.

The Chinese ambassador pledged full support for Pakistan's digital development, citing China's readiness to assist in cloud computing, AI innovation, and ICT infrastructure building. He emphasised that a robust Pakistan-China technology partnership will accelerate economic growth and innovation.
