Pakistan has extended its airspace ban for Indian aircraft until November 24, 2025, a move expected to disrupt regional air travel and cause financial losses to the Indian airline.

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Wednesday stated: “Pakistani airspace will remain closed to Indian-registered aircraft.”

The ban includes civilian and military flights belonging to or leased by Indian airlines. This restriction, which started on October 15, will last another month.

The airspace restrictions between India and Pakistan reflect broader diplomatic and security tensions between the two countries.

Pakistan first closed its airspace to Indian aircraft in April 2025 after an escalation of hostilities across the border. Since then, the closure has been extended multiple times.

However, this decision reflects the current state of relations between the two nations, which have also been called into question by recent military and political developments in the region.

Earlier this week, Pakistan also imposed temporary restrictions on multiple air routes over its western airspace, stating "operational reasons".

The aviation authorities also issued a NOTAM due to tensions with Afghanistan to restrict airspace during October 15 and 16, but it was only cancelled on Wednesday.

These restrictions on airspace in South Asia have limited regional flight operations to and from the subcontinent, resulting in Indian airlines operating longer and more costly routes to the Middle East, Europe, and the US.
