In line with numerous innovative businesses and startups emerging on Pakistan's entrepreneurial scene, the government of Pakistan is gearing up to establish Pakistan’s ninth National Incubation Centre (NIC) in Sialkot in collaboration with Ignite.
It's worth noting that the upcoming incubation centre will be developed under the supervision of the National Technology Fund under the IT ministry, Ignite.
The centre is believed to connect Sialkot’s world-famous industries with modern technology while creating opportunities for budding entrepreneurs to refine and execute their ideas.
Covering 12,000 to 14,000 square feet, NIC Sialkot is likely to host at least 25 startups at a time, with room to expand. The facility will feature co-working spaces, conference rooms, training halls, high-speed internet, prayer areas, and other essential services to support businesses.
Reflecting the government's push for inclusivity, 25% of incubation slots will be reserved for women-led startups. The centre will also help women entrepreneurs by offering mentorship, training, and tailored programmes to help them play a stronger role in business.
Preference will be given to startups linked to Sialkot’s traditional industries, including sports goods, surgical tools, and musical instruments.
Known for producing over half the world’s footballs and being the top exporter of surgical instruments, Sialkot brings around $2.5 billion annually to Pakistan’s economy.
With a strong industrial base, private international airport, and history of innovation, Sialkot stands as an ideal spot for a modern incubation hub to take local businesses into the digital age.
