Pakistan has launched its first-ever 120 kW fast EV charging station, marking a major step toward clean energy and green mobility. Developed by GoGreen Avenue, the station was inaugurated by Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari in the capital.

Speaking at the event, Leghari said that the initiative marks a new era for electric vehicles (EVs) in Pakistan. The fast charging station will make EV adoption more convenient, minimise carbon emissions, and positively impact the country's transportation and energy economies.

In a policy shift, the minister made a significant announcement to reduce EV charging prices. Electric charging units were reduced in price from Rs71 to Rs39, making electric vehicles more feasible for consumers. The move benefits Pakistan's intention to encourage green energy and reduce fossil fuels.

Leghari also complimented the public-private partnership that enabled this project. He highlighted that private sector investment is critical to the development of sustainable infrastructure in Pakistan.

The government has committed to backing more green energy initiatives to bring long-term economic and environmental returns.
