Islamabad has become home to Pakistan's first operational online women police station, a place for 24-hour protection and justice for women, children and other marginalised populations, an online platform by Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police that will ease access to law enforcement for women and others in need of cases against them.

The Online Women Police Station serves as a police service for cases of domestic violence, gender-related violence, child abuse and online crimes.

Victims can pick up the phone and dial 1815 at any time to report a matter, receive legal support or get immediate assistance when needed.

Moreover, the overall system has been created to enable women to report cases without fear and the need to visit a physical venue like a police station.

Islamabad Police Inspector General (IG) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, said women complainants can also utilise video calling and live chat support, and if the matter is urgent, First Responder Units can be on scene from the time of call within five to seven minutes.

First Information Reports (FIR) are registered online/by mobile and hand-delivered to the victim's home. Female investigation officers then follow up as needed to ensure the work continues with whistleblower contact so support is immediate.

To be even more supportive, all staff responding to helpline 1815, call operators, responders, and investigators, are female, and if the caller places a distress call on the general police helpline or messages the Hyderabad JavaScript process, the web will locate them at the same time as the distress call or message to provide immediate assistance if needed.

The IG also highlighted the station’s link with Police Station-on-Wheels, a mobile unit that works alongside first responders in urgent situations.
